BIRMINGHAM CONVENTION BUREAU Birmingham Convention Bureau will be unveiling its new strip, in the form of a new campaign to promote the city as a first choice destination for meetings, conferences, events and incentive travel at IMEX in Frankfurt. To celebrate, after a brief press conference you are invited to represent your country in a pre-European Championships warm-up – on table football! We couldn’t come to Germany and not talk about football and as England didn’t qualify for Euro 2008 (no we’re not bitter) we are staging our own competition. We’ve got a custom-made giant Foosball table on the stand, with teams in the colours of Premiership clubs Aston Villa and Birmingham City. Team up with a colleague or go it alone, there will be some great prizes up for grabs including champagne and tickets, flights and accommodation for a match of your choice next season at Aston Villa, subject to availability. |

Launch new Book “Meeting Architecture” by Maarten Vanneste IMEX08 will be the official launch a new book for the meetings industry. “Meeting Architecture” written by Maarten Vanneste and Published by the Meeting Support Institute is a manifesto for a new profession. This book takes a critical look at how large meetings and conferences are (dis)organised on the content side, how big budgets are spent by ‘temps’ who organise meetings only once or twice a year. Here we find the structures approach to the Educational, Networking and Motivational objectives of meetings – The real business of meetings and where Return on Investment matters. * pre-registered members of the press will receive a free copy of the book |

Doubling the System Emilia-Romagna is a land of meetings, a dynamic system, always ready to meet market challenges, to the extent that it is actually doubling its facilities: The imminent opening of the Riccione facilities, major works underway in Rimini, the extension of Bologna and the presentation on the international stage of a state-of-the-art conference and reception centre. A rich offering that matches the great interest expressed in Emilia Romagna as a destination, which derives from the area’s natural predisposition for hospitality. |
